The Right Gear for Self Defense

The Right Gear for Self Defense

When it comes to self defense, a firearm and its ammunition can be the difference between life and death. While any ammo will slow down an attacker, there are several bullet types that jump out of the cartridge box in thwarting someone or something focused on harm. First taking the stand for the self defense is the hollow point bullet. Made of solid lead, it features a hillnose cavity that allows it to expand as it goes through soft tissue. It’s considered the simplest bullet for self defense.

Next up on the stand is the jacketed hollow point bullet. As with its hollow point brethren, it has a nose cavity that allows for terminal expansion but differs by featuring a copper jacket that results in deeper penetration through soft tissue.

Continuing the defense is the brass jacketed hollow point bullet. In some cases, it has a bonded jacket fused to its lead core that produces deeper penetration.

The final witness is the copper-plated hollow point bullet, used only with a .22 long rifle and designed to expand upon contact.

As you can see, there are a number of ammo options when it comes to defending self and home. Regardless of which you choose, make sure it’s quality ammunition from trusted ammo manufacturers
